Why Ride?

Why should you take up cycling?

What is it about cycling that makes it so popular? It’s one of the first things you learn as a kid, normally with the help of an anxious parent or guardian standing by you – ready to catch you but knowing you have to learn to fall!

Cycling is fun when you’re young and often taken for granted – it’s just something everyone does. But then, as you get older, busier, cooler, buy car, house, have busy job, cycling seems to become something you used do – am I right? Ya, I know, been there, done it, got the T-shirt!

However, it’s one of the best forms of exercise you can do. It’s excellent for cardio, weightloss and is a low-impact on your body. Studies show the benefits of cycling go far beyond the physical – cycling can be really meditative and mindful and give a mental boost from the endorphins released. Furthermore, it can help build self-confidence when you acheive your longest, quickest, highest, wettest, hottest, coldest, windiest ride. And of course the social benefits of finding a tribe of lycra-clad like-minded peeps!
